…
I would breathe this
fire and blame
the rain and
soak the sunrise
in by tiny sips,
cast a smile with
knowing lips and stand
in one place long
enough to listen.
If I were bound
by more than this
fragile bark
these broken limbs
some quiet
spark I would un
-sleep
and watch the sky
unfold.
And I would sell you
all these secrets,
half price,
one by tumbled one.
If I were really
whole.

What a great title. I can feel where this is going before we even begin the journey.
“I would breathe this / fire and blame”
“stand / in one place long / enough to listen”
“If I were bound / by more than this / fragile bark” Wow. I love this. And of course, you’re talking about your skin.
“I would unspeak some quiet spark” (paraphrased) Love. Such a fine line to know whether to speak or unspeak a quiet spark. And my eyes play tricks. That was “unsleep” not “unspeak.” Sorry. But still cool.
“And I would sell you / all these secrets, / half price” My favorite. Until maybe this:
“If I were really / whole”
Beautiful piece, lady!
❤ Beautiful, De! Every word.
ahh, beautiful indeed, delicately, fragilely, heart-breakingly so. the “if i were’s went straight to my heart
Wonderfully written! I love every word of it, De.
