R.O.E.

…..

She’s an egg
shattered,
contents splattered
far and wide.

She’s a life
divided,
light provided
but held inside.

She’s a song
unsung
and a phrase unflung
and a still-born dream.

She is broken
shell;
some heart as well,
but there’s grace between.

  1. Oh wow, this is pow-er-ful—you know, with the timing and all. How clever to spin RvW into sushi rolls. :) I love that this could be read as being about the mommy or the baby. Just beautiful, dear. What a meaningful poem. I’d like to write one someday.

Holy cow. I think I need a new title. I was going for “Rules Of Engagement” and roe, as in eggs (that are often eaten.) Yikes. Didn’t mean to get political with this, at all.

  3. De!! I love this!!! All of it and this:

    “She’s a song
    unsung
    and a phrase unflung
    and a still-born dream.”

    So inspired.

I don’t watch news either…hmm…I don’t know what’s going on either…Marie was upset by something in her PA response….part of me really doesn’t want to know. :/

    ♥ ya

I love this. I DO watch the news but don’t know how this was interpret by your other reader. I mean, often people interpret my stuff in a way that makes me seem much smarter and more clever than I really am. I just giggle and thank them. :)

    ah, beautiful! every word!

Interesting that I could read this politically or sensually or sexually . . . rolled into one, it is a thing of beauty–the egg, the life, the song–and then the breaking and still the grace–I will think of these images when cooking, when dreaming, when helping a friend for a while. Your images linger.

Wow! I just hit the link two comments up. I’m back to thank you for sharing one of the most amazing and giving readings I’v had in a while. iT MAKES ME READ YOU A BIT DIFFERENTLY–BUT NOT BVERY DIFFERENTLY–as I measure those thoughts from where I stand in a new life.

  7. A wonderful melody of De words!
