basking rock
he rises
climbs as high as he can,
spreads himself loose
in the glow,
closes his golden eyes
and soaks up every ounce
of the light.

scattered
today I just want to scribble
on stones, buy a new set of
markers and smudge ant thrones
in indigo and crimson and verdant
green and all the liquid rain
-bows in between. I’ll toss
some far and wide and then,
maybe my muse will come
hopscotch-etch-dance
with me again.
