Cento braided from e. e. cummings
(humanity i love you, since feeling is first, and others)

Humanity i love you
when the world is puddle-wonderful
and kisses are a better fate than wisdom
though life’s lived wrong-side out
and though love be a day and life be nothing
it shall not stop kissing.

Who knows if the moon’s a balloon
filled with pretty people
(who laugh and cry) who dream, create and kill
while the whole moves, and every part stands still.

More seldom than a wave is wet
Smashed word
Broken open vow
Where it’s always spring and everyone’s in love
And flowers pick themselves
Because you are
forever making poems in the lap
of death
most made and moonly
far and wee…

life’s not a paragraph
nor can these moments be translated
with the bulge and nuzzle of the sea.

Another Cento, using E.E. Cummings’ works, written awhile back.

  2. Poetic Bloomings says:

You’ve said E.E. Cummings is a favorite of yours, and I see the footprints all over your work. This suits you well, De. Wonderful Cento!

  3. Strung perfectly!! Lots of momentum and meaning here, beautiful, De!
