The fireworks
…………………………always start
after dark
………………(rum,
………………………thoughts,
…………………deeds)
bright bleeding blooms of
……………………………………..anger’s searing scarlet spark
(oooooo…aaaaah)
……burning her wide open eyes,
……………………………………tendrils of truth-choked smoke
scorching her quiet starred
…………………scarred
sky.

So well done. The second half in particular was visually satisfying as well as poetic.

Is this a July 4 reference? Sorry, I’m from Australia… I like it.

Your playful use of language brings delight. I really like the layout on the page, and “bright bleeding blooms.” Excellent entry, De.

  7. “(rum, thoughts, deeds)” … hee hee :) I also read “rum” as “roaming.”

“bright bleeding blooms of anger’s searing scarlet spark” … Really gorgeous.

“scorching her quiet starred scarred sky” … You are talking about a loud, banging, colorful, fiery love that has blown her calm sky wide open.

    • I obviously did not read it as you intended. I was reading “rum” and “after dark” as a wild party, and I thought you were talking about “bleeding” love because it’s the name of a song I like. :)

  8. Ah yes, the inevitable relationship between fireworks and alcohol. And that isn’t always a pretty thing to see.

that ‘quiet starred scarred sky’ tugs at me.

  10. I also really appreciate your visual style and how you punctuate emotion and expression through the formations of each line. I love the line, rum, thoughts, deeds. The progression of the fireworks of an addict.
Thanks for linking up with us again. Hope to see you back Friday for the new challenge.

Wonderful as usual. Love the alliteration and other sound devices throughout. Almost gives a different feel than the subject matter, but it works. A lot to like.

Gorgeous, just gorgeous. “Bright bleeding blooms of anger’s searing scarlet spark” absolutely floored me.
