I LOVE this!!! Especially the first half. 🙂 I heart it to pieces! (I first typoed this as “I hear tit …” I thought you should know. Perhaps an afternoon chuckle is in order.)
I cannot tell you how much I adore this:

Every bit of it is delightful. I’m not a poet, so I am curious as to how a poet thinks when writing. Do you think in those poetic rhythms and phrases? Or do you think in prose and then translate? Just wondering?
Thank you, Paula. I think this might be a bit like asking a writer, like you, where you get your ideas from. I can only speak for myself, but these things have a life of their own. For me, word bump is a biggie…for some unknown reason, a couple of words will bump together in my brain, and I’ll like them and won’t be able to get them out of my head, except to expel them to paper. Or in the case of this piece, a visual idea. I have always thought it would be nice to be able to just take the map and fold it over, and be closer to the ones, or the places, you love. After that, all kinds of “home” phrases poured in…”hang your hat,” “he followed me home,” and of course, the where the heart is idea. Since I knew I only wanted to use exactly 33 words, the rest flowed around those thoughts pretty easily. 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by. I clicked your blog, but no new recent post. Why not?
