Upside-down World, Swirled

It’s really about the way the sun
-light spackles the trees, splatters

this golden breeze across the Lake.
It spills until you’ve had your fill of

spun, airbrushed wonder aching
straight to mirrored sky. It’s sapphire

set aflame and all the soft and un
-same reasons why you claim this

watercolor world as home, the deepest soft
-est parts of you hushed, brushed, known.

  1. Wow! De, this is an exquisite reading of the painting. I was so draw to the reflections and you have expressed it perfectly. (Love the word ‘spackled’ – it’s perfect.)

  2. Grace says:

You never disappoint De ~ I love the word/line breaks (sunlight/softest) and ending couplet:

watercolor world as home, the deepest soft
-est parts of you hushed, brushed, known.

Thanks for linking up and wishing you happy week ~

  3. This poem was born to be this painting’s mate…just brilliant, De…truly, truly! I echo Kerry’s, “Wow,” and also loved “spackled.” I’m wooed by your sound play and always with your perfect closings. Beauty. 🙂

  4. Well, I agree with all of the above! “sapphire / set aflame” was my favorite phrase. And the last line — perfect. As usual, very well done!

  5. Poet Laundry says:

    This is quite beautiful!

  6. Vandy says:

    Really lovely. Thank you.
