In Words Drown I

……(live not on evil)
murder for a jar of red rum.

Never odd or even,
I prefer pi.
Now, I won.
…………..(Don’t nod.)

Do geese see God?

Trifecta has asked us for exactly 33 words, one of them a palindrome (kayak, level, solos). Each individual line of this poem is also a palindrome. I love these crazy suckers.
Head over and play!

  1. That is amazing! 🙂 esp. murder for a jar of red rum!
Do geese see god? I do think they do!

  2. I would have expected nothing less than this level of inventiveness and wordsmithery from you. Thanks for sharing your great work. I have learned so much because of your skill and passion. Best of luck in this post-Trifecta world of ours. 🙂

    Haha!! Very clever!

  5. Claudsy says:

De, have you and Jane been spending time at the same watering hole. You’re both carrying around a flock of geese looking for God. 🙂 Love this, btw. Great job..

  6. That was awesome! You took using palindromes to a whole other level!

  7. Wow… you took this to a whole different level. 🙂

What a fun palindromic poem, De! Love it. I’m especially captivated by the jar of red rum.

I once had a long conversation, and I think a poem was involved, about geese. It was with a drunk in a bar in Madrid a very long time ago, and I feel qualified to answer that geese do indeed see god. : )

you bring all creativity to you like a call home. I love coming here just to read what world you’ll take me to, or to see how many times I will read your piece before it becomes a part of my day and subconscious.

we would all kill, I think, for that bottle.
    Well done.

De, this is AMAZING! I am so thankful I discovered you via Trifecta. I have never read anything of yours that didn’t inspire awe and a little bit of envy. You are a simply wonderful writer.

  11. TNT says:

Shit. One of the worst things I’ve ever read. Pitiful really.

Kidding 🙂 It’s fucking awesome. The part that gets me is how understated it is. These simple elegant truths, sometimes wickedly playful, all combine into this sort of – as Philip K. Dick would say – a divine zynergy. it is a piece that wants to stay with me, and powerfully rewards every extra read it gets.

    Nice work!

  12. Sarah Ann says:

That is so good and so clever. Love the murder – red rum line. These disparate palindromes lie so well together guided by your pen.

  13. Well how much fun is this? I think the rum is a favorite of all of ours. Thanks for linking up, De.
