Omne Trium Perfectum

..

Three sheets:

To the wind
we tender
faith, hope, love.

To the fates
we tumble
mind, body, soul;
toss
rock, scissors,
………paper
at fear.

On ivory shore
we spill
blood, sweat, tears
.
………………….ink.

.
Written for the last Trifecta. Sniff. 😦

*The Latin phrase “omne trium perfectum” means “everything that comes in threes is perfect,” or “every set of three is complete.”

It’s been a privilege to write for Trifecta this past year or so. I wish all of its incredible editors and writers well. And since I’m addicted, I still plan to write 33-word poems at least once a week. Maybe Tuesdays. 😉

This is gorgeous, inside and out! I love it all. I too am addicted to the 33-word phenomenon. I think in 33’s now. 🙂

Awww. They are wonderful I’m sorry to see them close up, but I do know how life gets in the way of writing, and trying to do extra things, like a website/contest etc. You have done some stellar poetry for this site, and this poem is no exception–witty, clever and fun 🙂

    • whimsygizmo says:

Thank you, Sara. I’m so thankful for their site. Some of what I wrote for Trifecta has since been published in journals, etc. One of my first published pieces, actually. Thankful.

  4. Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous.

  5. Well, this is a perfect poem!
Ivory shore I’m assuming is the writer’s page.
And yes: rock, paper, & scissors – all of them – at fear, indeed!

    • whimsygizmo says:

Yes, ma’am. I desperately needed an extra word or two to call it “one last ivory shore,” for Trifecta, but I haven’t been able to whittle it that way yet. 😉

  6. Last few lines are beautiful. And, you know what? I’m up for Trifecta Tuesdays too! 😀

  7. Sarah Ann says:

I love your three sheets – so beautifully written and the sentiments exoressed so strong. I will keep coming back to read your poetry. Looking forward to your 33-word Tuesdays. 🙂

A great use of your last 33 Trifecta words. I loved the ending and the image of us spilling blood, sweat, tears …. and ink.
