Sorry, Will

(A Sonnet of Variable – and Slightly Questionable – Length)

After the fall
and all that jazz
we, one and all
again ranked as
some pure genius
for bright star power
and head, in trust
to mark earth hour.
But how much more
the one who sang
of rusty armor
tough to hang.

A living trust:
Renewal, plus.

Following Margo over to Oulipo, where today’s task was to weave lines found in the newspaper into a sonnet. Whew. Margo’s is even shorter than mine – and infinitely better.  All lines here pulled from today’s Las Vegas Sun.

  1. Sounds like some wild party going on! Sounds like they were trying to become some human/ group sundial!

  2. margo roby says:

Nicely done with the rhyme. I didn’t notice it first time through and that’s always good!

  3. Susan says:

Wow. Thank God the renewable brushes up against the new, and vice versa.

  4. I am finally catching up on everything you’ve written in the past week, and I must say I am so impressed. De, your voice is so strong. Quite jealous and really honored to read it.
