I imagined this was talking about father bird not pulling his weight in the bug-gathering department. Leaving the mom nettled and unsettled with the idea of having to do more and more work – surprise surprise! We have a few nests around our house right now, so I’ve got birds on the brain. And perhaps a bit of a birdbrain as well 🙂
I love the way your words sort of settle, like swirling sand settling in the bottom of a glass or something. The double/triple meanings of “down.” The mini-poems created by the one-word lines, like “down in unsettled” or even “downing [a bottle of] unsettled.”
