It’s the witching hour,
and we’re all punch
-drunk and stupid with phrase,
braised,
bent
and spent.
Rhyme and rhythm and
reason have all long
left the building, and the band,
the Enjamb
-ments, has hit the road.
If you’re not careful, this
is the time when the dactyls
and the spondees and the trochees
all come out, fill your heart
and mind with doubt,
whisper
just one more…
just one more…
Iambic
-kering with the bartender,
a surly lot
who finally squalls,
Drinks on the house.
Name your poison.
One last shot
of Poetry, please.
……..Straight up.

Whew! Crazy, awesome month. If it weren’t a school night, I’d have a drink for realsies. 😉 Tallies and thanks and all that good stuff tomorrow, or maybe even Friday. Me fingers is tired. Thanks to all who prompted. Congrats to all who poemed.
You set the bar high when it comes to knowing the poetry structure! Very elegantly done.
I’ve been talking to Thomas Marlowe and we are both missing the Trifecta Challenge. One thing led to another and we have decided to set up Light and Shade Challenge where there are prompts twice every week and a chance to share what inspiration strikes.
We are not trying to be the same as Trifecta. They were awesome and I miss them. We do have some really exciting ideas of our own, though and can’t wait to see what happens. It would be great if you could come and join us and see where this journey takes us. Good writers are always welcome. If you have any questions then get in touch either on the Light and Shade Challenge Blog http://lightandshadechallenge.blogspot.co.uk/ or on the Facebook page. It would be wonderful to hear from you. Nothin’ to do with Kutcher. 😉
This made me laugh out loud! Awesome, De!
Funny – Imabickeering with the bartender!
Love “space bar,” and the Enjambments — bet they’re an awesome group!
I’m always amazed at how creative you are!
Love:
“and the band,
the Enjamb”
Brilliant:
“Iambic
-kering” (I am bickering.)
That title is excellent.
