One Long Breath

So much depends up
-on a band
wagon cleansing itself
in the rain.

Stone throne stuck
with chicken feathers,
we argue our century
-shelled shroud, cruci
-al
-ble(d)
-fied
โ€“

Besides, we are a glut
-inous ill
-formed mass, yelling
out loud,
some contradictory red
-emption meta
-physically strange,
…….baptized in clouds.

My Shawna gave me a great word list. This is where it wanted to go.

Oh man, I am hysterical over that first line. “Okay, ladies. Just pull up your Depends, and press onward.” Ha! And I cannot tell you how funny my mental picture is: a heavy metal band cleaning off after a show, rubbing little toy wagons on their bodies and faces … and there’s some tail-waggin’ goin’ on, of course. Plus, it’s all happening in the rain! Maybe it’s a reunion tour, but they’re all old guys. That’s why everyone’s wearing adult diapers. ๐Ÿ™‚ And they can’t use the toilet because it’s clogged up with chicken feathers. Sheesh!

Love what you did with the “cruci” words. Especially “crucible De” and “defied.” Or even “bull defied.”

“Glut in us ill” … sounds like a nasty stomach virus. Ew.

So after the cleanin’ and then the poopin’, we’re at mass? And we’re all screamin’ and turnin’ red ’cause we hate the up and down silliness and our knees hurt. Plus, we want to take communion, but there’s some rule that says we can’t.

“emption meta” … This is in the family of “my temptation.” Thank heavens, after all this craziness, we can be baptized in clouds. And they’re soft! We are so tender after all the times life has beaten us up. But at least there’s softness to look forward to at the end of it all.

  3. I read the first line as “so much deep-ends up” … yikes. And then the rest I saw as a group of people joined to some mutual cause, but just arguing with each other – kind of like you see on the internet — that last stanza really reminded me of what goes on sometimes on the internet. After which reading I do have to take at least “one long breath.” ๐Ÿ™‚

๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks again for the fabulous word list, Miss Shawna! ๐Ÿ™‚

Seems like you could write a little more often. Don’t you think you’re being a little bit rude?! ๐Ÿ˜‰

You’re hilarious. I’m crazed. Writing the lessons for Words with Wings (the kids’ poetry curriculum I posted about last week.) Also pondering your current word list.

If you’re bored, I wrote like 175 poems in April. Just backtrack. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Use your words.
