Murmurations

The star
-lings are at it again,
breaking the inky skin
of this in
-digo sky. They’ve got
murder on their minds,
if they just can must
-er enough black
to form
a siege
and
fly.

Starlings on the wing are fine. Settled in–not so much.

The idea for survival ought to call for a change of strategy. They must muster their strengths! Good lines Whimsy!

Thank you, both. I feel like this got rushed, and flew off on its own. I desperately wanted to play around with the “bird group” names murmuration, murder, muster and siege…but didn’t have the time I wanted. I will come back to this one, soon, I hope.

Love what you did with the hyphens to put emphasis on certain syllables, making us read it exactly how you wanted us to. And I ♥ star-lings.

  5. Those starlings will devour the feed – all at once! Murder the birdfeeders is what they do! They are a wonderful sight, however, just to watch when they fly together. If they would just pass by!

  6. Kir Piccini says:

without using the word murder, this reminded me of my sons. How they are cahoots quite often to light up the night with sound, rumbles, voices.

I loved this for precisely that reason.
