Raining in Baltimore

….

-often than not,
with a slight chance of
cloudy skies shroud
-ing
perfect blue buildings.

Grab your umbrella, be
-cause ’round here it’s
been awhile since we’ve
seen the sun. Pre
-sip
-itation is where it’s at;
don’t gulp
your way
through this slight
showers day.

Temperatures
………………….(tempers)
remain balm
-y, benign
but give them time
and they may rise.

Keep your eyes
on the horizon; there’s a storm
-front moving in
………………………………..(scattered flurries)
………………………………………(scattered furies)
…..
and
August and everything after
the rain
will soon be nothing
but a memory.
..
……………….(stay tuned for today’s top stories)

We were prompted to take some favorite song titles, and present them through a specialized point of view/vocabulary. I chose some Counting Crows songs from August and Everything After: Raining in Baltimore, Perfect Blue Buildings and Round Here…presented as a weather report.

  2. Again. Excellent writing. Your brain is so very clever. “Bal-ti-more-often-than-not” is hilarious!

  3. You’ve done well, because I would not have guessed these were song titles. And I’m pretty sure I live a lot closer to Baltimore than you do and I was wondering how you were presuming to know their weather 🙂 because although I think we get way more rain than you, it doesn’t rain that much!

My bro and sis in law and babies live in Elkridge, MD. One year when we went to visit it rained just about the whole time, especially our “city days.” I know that’s not normal, but I happened to have my Counting Crows in my iPod players at the time, and the whole trip was a little melancholy (I don’t remember why)…so I just have this lasting impression of delightfully maudlin rain. 😉

    Line upon line of headlines…
Today we had weather for ducks.
The onions and tomatoes aren’t doing to well for lack of sun.

Sorry I’m not familiar with all the references. But I liked it just because it was a fun read.

  5. Thank You. Now, back to you De!
