How Many Medical Professionals Does it Take to Undo a Deadly Kiss?

Cinderella, dressed in yella
went upstairs to kiss a fella.
Made a mistake, kissed a snake.
How many doctors did it take?

 ….

One might as well ask
how many licks it takes
to get to the center of a
tootsie roll tootsie pop
(the world may never know),

because those doctors filed
in one by one, two by two
like some kind of ark
-aic entourage of medical
genius. Then the special

-ists, the special lists of
pills and placebos that
might un
-gazebo this starry-eyed
dame. All too dense for
white picket fence, she
sure can pick ’em.

But in her defense, he was
quite charming. Alarming. Listen,
lass:

Cinderella, let me tell ya,
ain’t no ill that’s worth that fella.
For heaven’s sake, when you wake,
It’s a bibbidi-bobbidi-boo-tiful day

…to dump his sorry slithering ass.

PS: that yellow dress? Blue’s more your scene. Think jeans.

It is weird..(and so I apologize in advance) but can I live in your brain? 🙂
Because this is fantastic and quirky and whimsical…I read it 4 times and just smiled.
(Are you doing a book soon? Putting all your best stuff in one place for me? us? )

c’mon in! we can do coffee. 😉
re: book…at least a poem a day for over 5 years now…i don’t do math. how many poems is that? anyhoo, this creative chaos, no-admin-skills girl is a bit overwhelmed. 😉
but thank you so much for the boost.

  2. It’s poems like this that make we think of quitting poetry and getting a day job! Outstanding piece!

  3. 🙂 I love this. Esp. the p.s. – and those silly doctors charging in!

Are we suppose to do two today (well yesterday?) Eek then I am behind. Maybe.
I really enjoy your twisted fairy-tale takes. Not sure when Bullwinkle and Rocky arrived, but my dad told my sister and I ‘Fractured Fairy Tales’ growing up in the early 1960’s – wish he’d have written them down.

As for collections and books – When agents fly to poets, eh. I’ve got over four decades worth of ‘bull’ and ‘stuff’ and have only managed hard copy publication of a less than half a dozen in non-paying venues. I just have fun writing. So to you – best of luck with that. And maybe me too- Well there are several issues with becoming a pro, one being that ‘they take apart and rewrite your babies until they poor things look nothing like the original. I had that happen with a few online zines too.

More fun to share with like minded folks. Just keep doing what you do and enjoy it.

I think I remember this. I may have emailed you a comment once upon a time.

Love the last 6 lines, especially. 🙂
