Hold the Largest Truths in Your Smallest Pocket

So that they might leak out at will,
spill their way into this day like sun

-light. Fight the urge to tuck them
deep, or let them sleep in or call in

sick. Stick them together in pairs
and threes, seize them up and shout

them to the sky. Toss them, pebbled
into sea and watch the waves carry

their swirled sighs to the other side.
Perhaps some girl will find them there,

scattered on the sand, collect them
up and tuck them in to her own

…………………………………hungry hand.

What a great title. Sage advice, indeed.

I like the idea of a light sun, both in weight and caloric value.

What beautiful hope in the ending [sigh].

  2. This is beautiful. “fight the urge to tuck them deep” – that’s what too many of us do. And yes, the ending is perfect.
