They say there’s nothing
on our soil that quite captures
no word that means soul-same
in the same number
of simple

I like the way it looks
like tapioca, but tastes
spicy on my tongue, all
peppered agreement, quiet
fire blending cobalt and
burn. We learn these
foreign flames
when our own
are too bland
to brand what
…..our hearts
already know.

  1. I didn’t know it meant soul-same. That is so much deeper than the understanding I had of the word. Love it.

  2. margo roby says:

Yeh, but you captured it, de. That’s exactly what simpatico implies. Brava!

  3. Shawna says:

Sounds like Sim Patty Cake to me. 🙂

  4. KInda like schadenfreude. A true emotion that we have no single good word for.
