That Witch Cannot be Unseen

She’ll get you,
my pretties
(and your little dog, too),
but what really got me
was those freaking
freaky
flying
monkeys.

Be still my ruby shoes.
All the courage
in the world
couldn’t get that
infested sky
out of my brain,
nor restart
my
……..heart.

I love this, de. I like the voice, the description, the structure and order of events and oh, those cursed flying monkeys.

  3. Misky says:

And that tune that those witch’s soldiers sang as they marched around the castle.

  4. Ahhhh yes…this is one that haunts forever! I love your title, de!

  5. And it is a kid’s movie – those were scary!

  6. Violet says:

What you did with that title. Brilliant! Also, you just now made me realize that inside of “monkeys” is “monk keys.”

“Be still my ruby shoes.” … My favorite line.

I sincerely adore every word of all the poems you posted on Wednesday. So I’ll point out some favorite lines, but please know how much I treasured that day and that flood of exquisite poetry you sent my way. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I do hope you’ll be writing today.
