the inevitability of the funny (farm)

is it absurd
to stretch a

w           o           r             d

so far across the page, it kerns
itself silly? is it willy nilly
(piccadilly stage) to paint your
rage in indigo ink
and think
it might re

the sky? why
not? why knot
your heart with ropey wings
and the scattered strings of kites
and balloons
(filled with pretty people)
and song. why long
for bluer places and traces
of nonsense
(icle)
claims, smallish frames
for tiny poems and
little gnomes that might
actually read them, breed
them. breathe them. relieve
them of their heaviest harm.

trace my arms in veined phrase,
tattoo the world on my pinky,
where i might hold it
……………………………..safe.

  1. Shawna says:

    I love this: “why knot
    your heart with ropey wings”

And also the hidden “little know-mes.”

    Yes, please: “relieve
    them of their heaviest harm”

  2. I love the last three lines. And no, it’s not absurd!
