Moon in a Mason Jar

scene-in-a-jar

They say she’s just going
through a phase, but I know she’s a
moody blue,
so I tuck her in
with sacred limbs,
…………snow,
and sigh
-lence.

..
inspiring visual and prompt from over at margo‘s.

    This is really lovely. Reminds me of tucking my children into bed years and years and years ago. So very long ago, it seems… >

    That’s the way to do it – and silence! Be done with any of the whinings! Nicely De!

  6. I love the word sigh-lence.. ah! Love how you write poetry in little bits.. like shape poems, but so much better.

    This is the first time I’ve seen the “lens” in “sigh-lence.” Also, “lends.” Either way, I think this is your way of giving me a hug and trying to help me through a rough “phase.”

    Your extended line that dangles that odd “a” is either a scarlet letter, or it’s the grade you want to give her. Or both. Cutting the first line off where you did means that people are talking about whether or not she’s “just.” Whether or not she’s “going.” Whether she’s “just going” or going and coming back. Either way, people are talking about the moon, and she’s slammed out there in the middle of the night sky for everyone to watch. I’ve never thought about this before, but what happens when the moon gets sad or depressed? Where does she go to escape the onlookers and mockers, or even the fans? What if there aren’t any midnight clouds to hide behind when she wants to have a good cry? Thank goodness you’re there for her, to hide her in a jar and keep her safe.

    mason = Ma’s on (duty) … you’re the moon’s Mama 🙂

    “say creed snow” … or “cred” or “cried” … “S.A.” could also be San Antonio. 😛

    Beautiful.
