know your onions


mother says pass
(they make her eyes run,
what with all those layers)
but if you can hang in there
a many peeling moon or two,
there are things held close
at center.

    Well, I think we have to pass on the onions when are children are young. But later, we can add them back into our lives. There’s really just no way we can savor spice when we’re mothers of youngness.
