quietly break my heart

..

{please don’t}

don’t say
you’ll never write
another poem, that
this string of daisies,
polka
……….dots,
salt and sage
is unbraiding itself
into an end.

don’t say
…….you’re un
-friending your muse,
dismissing your lists,
leashing the truth.

please.
pen the words
that jangle
my ankles, chalk
me to life…
and gently,
……..gently
crack my
(ribcage rage)
(atrium, ventricle)
center
…………..in two.

I love this poem, especially this: “unbraiding itself into an end”

You know, the message I’m getting from this is “don’t SAY you’re going to quit writing; make sure you actually do it.”

Like, when you say “please pen the words,” it looks like you’re saying “write them.” But what you’re actually saying is “please corral them and keep them in a pen.”

    Point taken.

    And let’s not forget this:

    “that jangle
    my ankles, chalk
    me to life”

I put you in prison, basically.
I never knew how much you hated me.

Wow. I think this is the first time you have ever truly misread me. And tragically so. I’m so sorry you read this in a way I would NEVER have intended. I thought you understood by now how much I adore you. It’s just been a somewhat heartbreaking day all ’round. Whew.

Use your words.
