Last Rites

..

We didn’t actually know he was dying.

Had we known,
somebody might have read
something. None of that
Dómine Sancte stuff, or whatever.
He would have hated that. Maybe the
good doctor (Seuss). Or Seamus Heaney.
Or something from Monty Python’s Holy
Grail.
Something

to let him know we were right there.

Or maybe it’s okay that we were busy
exorcising our own
……………..demons;
…………………………remaining silent.
