The Year of Writing Dangerously

Give her an audacious heart.

A quiet spot for noisy bones.
A stone
to throw softly
or un
………-throw.

Give her the sting of her own
salt, a stum
-bled place to start,
a slant of sun
a nook of shade,
nestled in the garden of broken
…………..and grace.

Give her a book of her own
spilling, a tiny throne to ting it from,
a willing soul
………and a foldable stage.

Yes! And give it to me, too.

  2. Perfectly spilled…I love so much but if I had to play favorites:

    “a slant of sun
    a nook of shade,
nestled in the garden of broken
    …………..and grace.”

    So love this!

  3. Kerry O'Connor says:

I love how you wove both titles in here. And how you summed everything up so well in your final lines.. Oh for a book, throne and foldable stage.

  4. Shawna says:

Hee hee. Is this poem about me? 🙂

    “salt, a stum
-bled place to start” … That “s-tum” makes me think of Tums and stomach ulcers (which I used to have awful pain from). So here, these are bleeding ulcers, which somebody poured salt on. 😦

I especially love the first two lines.

  5. Sanaa Rizvi says:

  13. Rosemary Nissen-Wade says:

All wonderful, the perfect set of equipment – but for some reason I am especially enchanted by that foldable stage.
