ekphrastic of nothing

apropos of some
small –things, this
thing is not the thing.

it is a fraction of the
thing, yes. an ish. a tish
and jot and tittle. perhaps
from somewhere in the middle,
or one end. it’s a frag

-ment, really. just a tidge.
a ridge. a line. a corner.
a smile. a quiet style born
in the bluest hue. an eye
that says what do you
see?

no, this thing is not the
thing. and yet,

…………………….it sings.
