Pan

..

Here we stand, all fairy-shimmer green and
keen to catch that dance-dark twist, our
sister spilled and skipped
across melting bubblestars.

With a sinister grin,
he leaves the door ajar,
an open journey, lulling.

Us?
We’re strands
of (p)rose.

We’re chasing shadows.
They Never
……………….-land.

..
I’m hosting the Q44 today over at dVerse. Come play!

  1. Lovely. The final line is so good, the concept and images. One of the things I’ve come to enjoy about writing the quadrille is the creative use of hyphens that create words and images that just delight…such as yours.

  2. I adore the way you have turned the dark green fairy sinister…almost like absinthed visions.

  3. Lovely stuff. Victoria is right – those word blends are wonderful. They create such fizzing, dancing imagery.

Well…what can I say? I ADORE Peter Pan and Neverland – to this day. This is my first poem to read this afternoon….sigh….I shall go on but this one has me dreaming in fairy shimmer green. LOVE IT!

  5. kim881 says:

I always thought Peter Pan was sinister – love that play on words!

  6. Brian says:

Can I play too? Loved this innocent tangle of limbs and glowing shadows.

  7. Sanaa Rizvi says:

Oh marvelous play on words, De ❤️ just amazing!! 😀

  8. I like this one with its dance and lilt. Pan for sure. 🙂

  9. There is a place where dreams are born… and demons never land
    Nice one.

Oh gosh, this is splendid, and I love “across melting bubblestars”. Clever, that one.

I love these. Especially this section:

“keen to catch that dance-dark twist, our
    sister spilled and skipped
    across melting bubblestars”

And what you did with “p(rim)rose” and “Never-land.”

  15. Rosemary Nissen-Wade says:

Oh, THAT Pan! At first I was thinking of the goat-footed one. I love the playfulness.
