this is not the day we wanted, but we’ll boogie on through

..

it’s a journey dance,
(one grin forward, two lulls back)
a knick-knack-patty
-melt
(big green splat!)
of skip and
shadow. a rose cloud
spilling itself to
breeze.

it’s a jar the sky leaves
open, as bubbles
shimmer-twist pop
(don’t stop)
and
believe themselves
sane.

.
Fondly (perhaps foolishly) known as The One With All The Words,
this is a third offering for this week’s Quadrille, hosted by Kim.

  1. I love the rhythm in your dance De and ‘it’s a jar the sky leaves open’ creates such a wonderful image :o)

  2. I love the playful, play on words “a knick-knack-patty-melt”

  3. You crack me up…I’m with Debi. Can’t wait to order a knick-knack-patty-melt (with lactose free cheese!)

Well worth waiting for – yours ins the last one to read this morning and it’s woken me up with a snap, crackle and pop! I found myself getting into a rap rhythm and almost dancing to the words:
    ‘a knick-knack-patty
    -melt
    (big green splat!)’!
I love the imagery of the ‘rose cloud / spilling itself to / breeze’ and ‘a jar the sky leaves / open’. Another beauty, De!

  7. Love it! So bouncy and fresh, great word working!

  8. Ha.. and you leave me no choice but to try… thank heave for the hyphens… 🙂

I can’t get enough of that title. I have smiled like twenty times over that. (I’ve read your recent poems a bunch of times on my phone but was waiting to comment when I was on the computer … which is basically on life support at this point.)

    This section is so great:
“(one grin forward, two lulls back)
    a knick-knack-patty
    -melt
    (big green splat!)”

    Love your work, as always.
