Tuesday Night at the Howard Johnson’s

Barb’s all frizzle-frazzled again; they’ve been
hoppin’ since the show
(Girls! Girls! Girls!)
let out, a bunch of loudmouthed louts
shouting against the sizzle of the grill.

But the tips are good and her kid needs
shoes and Phil’s crinkle-winking at her
between corned beef hash flips. He’s too
old for her and too funny for his own
good but he’s a good
(over-easy)
egg.

Just about an hour to go, and though
the clock clicks slow, her legs know how
to speed these aisles and please these
overgrown boys with both
sustenance
and smile.

Yes. My daughter is just such a server, bringing humour and smiles to her customers……..but she does get tired as her shift draws to a close. I like the good egg in the kitchen!

What a wonderful scene you painted my poetic friend! Great words love the crinkle-winked 😘

Being waitstaff (one of my many jobs…talents?) I concur!
