Talking to Myself Again

..

Shhhhh…see? The world’s an okay place;
the world’s got quiet grace and open sky.

The world’s my (okay, not oyster, but per
-haps)
my seashell, echoed ocean. The

world is full of good, and good people, and
good books to take you away when it’s all

gone bad. The world’s sad, but it will smile
again, the sun will shine again, our hands

will bind again and the world will know it
-self again, once the dust settles and we

all look up and see that we can hold our
world in silent, steady hands. And stand.

  1. Amen, amen. Such an important poem for so many reasons right now. For so many, the world feels so fragile and so unsafe. It’s so vital to hold onto hope and believe that we will come through it all even stronger. Changed, yes. But beautiful.

  2. Glenn Buttkus says:

I applaud your positive vibes; note that my own strong rant relating to Trump, ends with a hopeful haiku. There are those who believe that that darkness brought on by anger & resent is not healthy for the soul. I love that you can accentuate the positive.

  3. I have been reading a lot of these kinds of poems this week. We all can still hold onto hope.

  4. Waltermarks says:

That is such a beautiful echo of hope Whimsy. This world is such a crazy place nowadays , but it will improve.

  5. Candy says:

    We need this hopeful message

  6. Sherry Marr says:

I love this reassurance. It is true. The world is wonderful, it is some of the humans who are screwed up, smiles. It is good to read these words tonight. Thank you, kiddo! Made my day!

  7. Raivenne says:

This was much needed, it’s been a week. Thank you.

A quiet, thoughtful poem that resonates with hopeful echoes, De.I love the opening lines, the way you’ve juxtaposed ‘okay’ and ‘echo’, and the repetition of ‘good’. You made me smile after crying over Walter’s poem.

  12. I’m an optimist but one who is guided by this morsel offered to me by a North African friend.
” Worship Allah, but tie up your camel” 😉

  13. Love how you have embedded your repetition… and the hope it brings. Somehow I feel at the end of the day most people have goodness in their hearts

  14. kanzensakura says:

Hope is the thing with feathers…what an incredible hymn to hope in this universe.

  15. This is really lovely, De. A beautiful mantra.

  16. Imelda says:

How true. Even though there are bad things and situations around us, the good and beautiful outnumber and overcome the former.

  17. Miss Stacy says:

Aw, this is very hopeful. Made me smile a little.
