Let’s build ourselves
a cobbled cottage
by the appletini sea, a
place for you and me to
spill ourselves in ink
and rain and salt.
We’ll build it tall and wide
of stones unthrown and river
rock and fallen stars and
silence. Sing its walls
to sleep each night by
lullaby of sky.
Mortar me
a midnight glance of magic,
a place to steep my skin
in hope and flower fall.
We’ll keep it
simple, small
….and call
………it home.

Oh, De. This takes my breath away.
Each line is precious, steeped with magic De ~ Love that appletini sea –
Simple and small help make it a home. Just need to get that building permit.
Oh my, wow! I’m amazed at your choice of words, De.. I especially love how you wrote this,
“Mortar me
a midnight glance of magic,”
❤
Love that last stanza! It’s beautiful.
This is a taste of heaven, De.
“Mortar me
a midnight glance of magic,
a place to steep my skin
in hope and flower fall.
The last stanza sums the exquisite imagery — a home of love and whimsey
i was blown away by your use of everyday building words that you then matched with magic and stars, very beautifully crafted work of art, – “Mortar me a midnight glance of magic,” – i think i fell in love with this line, it was the prettiest one among all the other lovelies!
This is a perfect home… in a way we should be allowed to fashion our own home…
What a magical cobbled cottage, De, with its ink, rain, salt and fallen stars!!
We’ll build it tall and wide
of stones unthrown and river
rock and fallen stars and
silence.
That’s beautiful. Your cottage sounds lovely.
This really is a home fashioned of words and images. Everyone should have one 🙂

“….by lullaby of sky”………your poetry is enchanting, Ms De!
That’s beautiful De. You need a special permit for a cottage like that. One that lasts a lifetime. What a magical, wonderful place
This is surreal..so lovely. I especially like…
“a place to steep my skin
in hope and flower fall.”
Sounds like a place to soothe one’s soul….
A cottage by the sea sounds wonderful as does your poem 🙂
