sounding off

the sky’s got too much rattle
today, too much clatter,
not enough clef.

you’d have to be deaf
not to hear those clouds
clunking around up there,
cha-cha-cha-ing all over
each other’s toes.

and could someone please
muffle the moon? her
usual murmur’s a moan
this morn, as she groans
back down to bed.

but I have to say
the sun’s the worst –
a horizon hiccup,
burping up the day.
