{a Magic 9 poem}
..
Catch her in a mason jar
(be sure to crack the lid).
Swallow her with fallen stars.
Wish her well, then smile.
Fling her from your fingers, far.
Pin her to your left lapel.
Pen her in your chicken yard.
Pledge the highest bid.
Sing her something; wide your arms.
..
For NaPoWriMo, day 9. Magic 9 was invented by a misspelling of “Abacadab(r)a,” as rhyme scheme.
Would work for the moon or a lover. We were on the same track today, but my poem with a very similar theme was for the WordPress Daily Post prompt. Loved your poem. Always do.
All ya gotta do is make her laugh; then she’ll sit in your lap and tickle your cries.

What a delightful, and highly creative poem – so richly envisioned and whimsical!
your magic with a lid on it! happy this got featured
De, love it. Mason jars fill my pantry. And the moon so bright tonight, congrats on the napowrimo feature!
Ah, De, that’s great. Lovely to see you as a NaPoWriMo choice, too.

Charming. Did you by chance write a napiwrimo poem several years ago ‘City Girl’s?
I hear the same deft wimsy in your poem.
Hi, and thank you. I believe last year was my first year discovering NaPoWriMo, addicting it to the other poetry/prompt sites I wrote for. And that title is not familiar. I do loves me some whimsy. 😉
I love this one! Such whimsy-gizmoness to this! 🙂
I like this one! Full of light and happiness 🙂
A clever, nifty little poem, De. Grander but more human than catching caterpillars or fireflies in that jar. Congratulations for you and thus poem being the NaPoWriMo site featured writer as the Day Nine writer with this poem.
An aside, our great-grandnice posted on her wedding Amazon[dot]com wish list both quart and two quart Mason jars. We bought her both kinds, at Target. I forgot to ask my niece what she wanted them for. I do know that you already have the moon in your jar. (Please treat her nice.)
..
Humane, humane, humane, a hundred times from this very lax proofreader friend. Sorry.
..
For “grandniece” also. Galaxy 5 machine has been in a botching deleriam this morning.
..
Don’t worry, Jim. That moon is free to come and go as she pleases (the lid of that jar is…ajar.) 😉
Gorgeous

Congratulations on being chosen the featured participant. Lovely, light hearted poem.👌
I live this magical poem, De, especially ‘swallow her with fallen stars’. Enjoyed the form as well.
