run that damn three

with no trace of glee
and with a bummed knee
and through bee-buzzy trees.

run it
………..{those three damn miles}
in the muggy sticky style of pseudo-monsoon
southern Nevada, of wide open
skies but all-desert ground.

run up.

run down
as fast as you can
to make your own breeze,
to capture night’s last wheeze
and breathe something
other than dust and fiery lung
and neighbor’s morning
smoke.

just run.
if not for fun,
then for the feeling
of speed. the way the sky slants
as your chest strains; the way
the pavement pitter-patter
rains against your shoes.

choose
today to run and be,
and play. to finish. to win
the (g)race
that means you’re free.

Run, be free, away from everything the world has to offer. Run to your heart’s desire. Wonderful thoughts and nicely done!

    This is so good.

    These are my favorites:
“in the muggy sticky style of pseudo-monsoon”
    “run up. / run down”
“to capture night’s last wheeze” (this really made me giggle)
“if not for fun, / then for the feeling”
“the way / the pavement pitter-patter / rains against your shoes” (I love this image.)
