There’s a moon out, see? And she’s
a busy-body. In no time she’ll span
this great vast sky and you and I
will still be sitting here, and that’s
okay by me. I’ve got ghosts, but
you’ve held them all so carefully,
so fully in quiet hands. If we could
live a thousand years, I’d still want
to kiss each star goodnight while
holding yours and tumbling mine
through all this salt and sea. If
this is all there ever is: you, me,
this moon, these hands, this breeze,
I’ll breathe it all in and dangle my
toes right here at the edge of the
world and know that the if onlys
are only a smudge and the
difference of us, enough.

Poetic Asides November Chapbook Challenge, day 9.
“I’d still want / to kiss each star goodnight” OK, that is so cute but still so lovely.
This is a very lovely poem. I enjoyed very much.
