{What Stayed Behind}

Please remember me
when the sun goes down
when the moon is round

– The Reverend Horton Heat

-light, words spilled to sea.

In the slight slant of sky
that says rain is coming.

In the way words bump
and grind, and leave a trail

of smiles behind.
