    Ugh, GORGEOUS! Isn’t amazing how much you can say in so few words?!

    I like reading this as if it isn’t just romantic, but also about some sort of wood-witchy rite-of-passage ceremony. Like he was teaching you how to become … a forest goddess or something … all on your own, without having to depend on him anymore. A poet (of spells), in other words, stirring that black pot, that cauldron, that {heart} gushy stuff. This makes me think of Snow White now. Remember when the guy was tracking her with directions to cut out her heart and bring it back to the evil stepmother? But he didn’t, obviously. Yep. This is the story of how she managed to keep her heart, and she remembers him fondly, despite his almost-murder of her soul.
