won’t you spirit me away
to moon or mountain
or ocean sway,
say
that salt and sea
are all we need?
see, let’s just feel the breeze,
squeeze ourselves
into some smaller space,
erase the fears. lace hands.
scribble our names in
shifting sands.

It’s Quadrille Monday over at dVerse, and I’m hosting. Come play!
Hey, I can dig it. In this time of darkness and manufactured joy, our fellowship is a buoy in troubled waters. Got a kick out of your scattered rhyme scheme.
Love the word play and rhythm of this quadrille.
A fun write
Happy Monday, thanks for dropping by my blog
Much😊love
I like your interpretation of ‘spirit’. Good one, and you capture the ephemeral nature of it in those last lines.
Your quadrille has buoyed me up this morning, De. I needed the ocean sway, the breeze, and scribbles in the sand.
A journey I would enjoy. (K)
Escaping to the seaside is always a great idea.
Nice use of rhyming, all put “into some smaller space.”
I was kept aloft on the zephyrs summoned by your spirited poem. I greatly enjoyed the flight. 😊
Spirited away to a peaceful space and place – wish we could wish it and it be true. 🙂
I really like the style of this one — the rhymes that surprise you, the sentiment that doesn’t
Oh I love this joyous poem… the rhymes are just perfect
Oh yes…… PLEASE. My body may be here in this winter wonderland, but my spirit lies on a beach of coarse coral watching the turtles play among the waves. 😉 *sigh* ~JP
It sounds delightful! Yes, please! 🙂
This made me feel like I was dipping my toes in the ocean.
I like the scribbling in shifting sands.
Away is a good place to get sometimes.

I like the unstructured rhyme scheme. Like spirit, evokes a sense of being free.
Just lovely! This is exactly how we feel every year when we spend our two glorious September weeks in Provincetown, on the tip of Cape Cod. Food for the souls….spirits always uplifted! 😉
