it gets curiouser and curious
-er, her fascination
with that sky
sand dollar,
that noble star
scholar, mama moon.
she swoons at crescent
smile, a fine fool for full.
you can question her
about it some, but she has
no words. only hum,
and shine.
It’s Quadrille Monday over at dVerse, and I’m bartendin’. Come play!
I love the ending… maybe it’s the best thing to do when in awe to slightly hum
Yes, sometimes there just are no words…
Clever title with curio and play of curiosity De. You are back with your favorite mama moon theme and this line is amazing:
a fine fool for full.
Thanks so much, Grace. She’s definitely my go-to muse for writer’s block. I guess it says something about her that there’s always something new to say!
I love the musicality of your writing here, De: it’s a fun and playful yet deeply poetic composition!
Thank you, Ingrid. 🙂
A humming moon is a beautiful thing. I can only hope one day to hear her.
Thanks, Lisa. 🙂
You are welcome, De 🙂
The title is a little poem on its own, De, and I love all the wordplay – the internal rhyme of dollar/scholar, the alliteration and slant rhyme in ‘a fine fool for full’, and the idea of the moon with only hum and shine – the best way to be when lost for words.
Thank you so much, Kim.
You and the moon, you never get over it. This piece is playful and fun, and has a fantasy flare; perfect for your prompt. Thanks for hosting.
So true. I do never get over her. 🙂 My pleasure hosting today, Glenn! Thank you.
Love the wordplay and the music in this, and the moon of course. She always holds my gaze and curiosity. Your poem almost makes me hear the hum.
Thank you, RedCat. She definitely sings to me without words.
De, I particularly like the second half of this piece. I love the idea of the “hum” …
❤
David
Thanks so much, David.
Very nicely spun De! Initially I thought you were having the sea star laying on the beach looking up and wondering how she got out of place! LOL
I love your tongue in cheek poem!
Ha! Well now, that’s a whole ‘nother poem! I LOVE that idea!
The Curious Star Fish… or maybe a great children’s book!?
YESSS!
I’m a lunalover, too, De, as I guess most poets are. Love her silent hum & shine. And thanks for hosting.
You bet, Ron. My pleasure to host today.
The hum and shine seems like a good answer to any and all questions. Stellar writing! ✨
Thank you so much, Tricia.
I hope this cabinet represents a whole new kind of executive branch. ❤
You know I only do poetics, never politics. 😉
Delightful whimsy here, De! I love these lines:
“she swoons at crescent
smile, a fine fool for full.”
Thank you, Frank. 🙂
Hmmm. I’ve always heard of moonshine, but never of hum shine. Curious, isn’t it?
Ha! Love that!
I love the title. And the curios found therein.
Thank you, Maggie. 🙂
no words. only hum,
and shine.
Love the combination of feelings of curiosity to some feelings of happiness, De!
Hank
Thanks so much, Hank.
I really like the idea of the sky as a curio cabinet for stars. 🙂
Very beautiful with such amazing wordplay; it flowed smoothly along the rhythm.
loving the word play and hummig along with the moon is alays good.
Crescent smiles always get me as well. I’m a fool for full-blown happiness. Thank you for hosting.
Who is not a fool for the moon? (K)
Moon here is sublime
ooooooooh. the title and then the flow of this felt like a lullaby. a reassuring one. thank you, De!
Her / you … stage center! Love this quadrille and thanks for the challenge.
She captivates me in every form.
I especially like these lines,
“she swoons at crescent
smile, a fine fool for full.”
Thanks for the prompt and for hosting on dVerse.
You hum and shine along with her!
