occasional storm

we are reborn
in these deluge moments,
heavens cracked open and booming
sudden protest of all this desert
dry. in drops of liquid hope
from broken cloud,
redemption falls from sky.

we unfold our hands
and
rejoice in
water only thrown,
streams without stones.

It’s Quadrille Monday over at dVerse, and I’m tending bar. Come play.

  1. Thank you for the prompt. You did an excellent job in capturing your stream.

  2. Loving this one, De, that I find to be wonderfully layered. And, of course, living as I we do in deserts, appreciating those streams without stones…badly needed here because of the wildfires. Can’t even see my mountains right now.

The fires are crazy this year! We were just up in Tahoe for two nights on the tail end of our daughter’s graduation celebration trip, and we sat at Sand Harbor on the Saturday and watched a “cloud” roll over the eastern mountains, slowly. I knew it was smoke, and read about the fires that night. Praying for all the firefighters, residents and wildlife. SO good to see you at dVerse today!
