They’ve gone wild
(these wayward princesses),
bored of bibbidi-bobbidi boo,
tired of titles and
weary of woo.
They’ve decided to
break it all down
lose the shoes
and crack their crowns
into a mosaic of glitterglee.
See?
The world shines better
broken. Spoken. Free.

It’s Quadrille Monday over at dVerse and I’m hosting. Come play!
I love love love this – the wordplay, the whimsy, the final freedom, it’s totally glittergleeful! I wish I could play like this.
I call calloo callay to this poem today.
I love it, and it seems like being a princess is not all that fun… so much more fun with glitter when broken.
This form is wonderful to play with, as you did, they crack their crowns, into mosaics, and then the last 2 lines – brilliant, those last 3 words…
I love this, De! The way it flows, the wordplay–and most of all the way they break free. 😀
love the fun flow here … shame you didn’t advice Princess Di, she might still be alive 🙂
Nice one
Much💜love
I love how your title could secretly be “breaking pointe”—as in, ballet slippers.
Oooo Tres Musicale, DJ. Great stuff. Thanks.
And thanks for hosting the cool prompt.
Relaxed seems always more comfortable than stiff and formal! A fun poem De!
really enjoyed this
A masterful piece! Fun, poignant, and pleasing to the ears.
This piece soars in loop d’loops. Buoyant and effervescent — great fun for the tongue De! 🙂
Delightful!
Love the whimsy and the glee of their freedom!

There is freedom in that broken crown.
I love this! Fun with a great message.
It’s like you waved a word wand and set us all free to shatter, share, and collaborate with our crowns. Thanks for hosting. Your quadrille topic and your personal response are equally magical.
Oh brava! Brava! Girl power and glitterglee! I adore this.
This was nice!
So many crowns and accolades we’d be better without. You send the message with a light touch.
Damn straight, De! BTW, my six-year-old has watched all of the Disney princess movies with us, and we’ve discussed the evolution of Disney princess culture with her, as its changed over the decades… She’s a very empowered six-year-old princess 😀
❤

Fabulously done. Break the mould, get on with life!
The rhythm of this one was just intoxicating!
How delightful this is!
I could totally understand how a princess would want to go rogue for a day! Love it!
Crack their crowns into a mosaic of glitter glees….LUV IT!
I love this! Free, yes!
Much better. As always, wonderful wordplay. (K)
