My daughter
(grown, not yet flown)
asks me why I need so many
and I try to explain that I am
still carrying my childhood
phone number, six jingles
from the 80s,
a tiny sprinkle of Tahoe sand
,
and a look she gave me
when she was 15.
And also:
I am still holding
out the hope that someday I’ll
come across a heart-shaped stone,
and a family of smallish dragons.

In November, we poem.
What splendid things to put in one’s pockets. I, also, never buy clothing without pockets.
“and a look she gave me / when she was 15.” – Awesome.
“I am
still carrying my childhood
phone number, six jingles
from the 80s” … I love that!!!
And the look she gave you when she was 15. ♡
