Patent, Pending

The trouble when you click your toes
together instead of your heels is that

nobody knows what you’re wishing for
or where home is, or why these side

-walks are made of leather instead of
yellow brick. Pay no attention to the

man behind the thick curtain. We’re
all just waiting for something, right?

Some quiet fight for flight or heart or
courage. Buckle in and tuck your chin

and just roll with it, all limbs inside
these (trade) marked winds, and the

….……vehicle that is this sighing sky.

  1. This is absolutely brilliant! I love every single line!

Sometimes I just sit with your words and I can’t help but cry in happiness, jealousy, admiration.
This was one of those times. Even the title had me wiping tears.

WHAT TALENT! What insight and creativity.

I don’t know why, but I kept thinking I was going to read the word “vanilla” just around the corner. Weird! Soooo … wanna write a vanilla poem next? 🙂

I adore your title. And what you did with “sidewalks.” Super awesome.

  4. DELL CLOVER says:

This is marvelous–Love “Buckle in and tuck your chin”. Yep.

  5. All I can say is Dang that’s beautiful 🙂

  6. Lovely poem, such beautiful imagery. Well done.

  7. This is a sad one, I feel, about how we hope and yet may not ever get what we wish, hope for. We may be clicking our toes all our lives, instead of our heels.

  8. julespaige says:

I see – We adore our ‘Oz’ don’t we?
The title – piqued to perfection.
Well the whole thing just …polished 🙂
