the other one tends
to get all the attention
(all that tangerine morning shine)
,
but she
(more sinister sister, dark side
tried and true light thief)
still knows how to own a sky.
we stop
and watch her balloon-float
gloat her way up,
a full hot cup of amber
brew.
we drink her in
(our souls, our skin)
and thickened plots
stir stars.

It’s been awhile since I played with the the twiglet over at Misky’s site. 🙂
Those first two stanzas are perfect descriptions of most sisterly relationships.
Yes! I almost called the sun “the other sister,” but I think of the sun (el sol) as male, so I left it vague. But for sure, there is some sibling rivalry going on all up in there. 😉
My sister was just a kinder brother.
Happy May Day!!!
I love this. ❤
Especially the Golden Girls reference in the title. 🙂
And how that first line break makes this a bar tending poem! Tangerine Morning (Moon)Shine sounds like a delicious drink.
Yes! Hubby made fresh-squeezed orange juice yesterday. Oh my WORD, it was divine.
