Gaia’s Song

..

I long
for you to love me,
to hold my skin
as sacred as your own.

I ache
for you to make me
more than just the
place you build your thrones.

I wish
for you to want me
to be a part
of you, and you of me.

I love,
for love is all things.
And set apart, one
day it’s love you’ll see.

  2. Gaia sits like an unrequited lover, one day we will see, appreciate feed her with love back… I hope not before she turns her back on us depleted and exhausted. I love this take on Gaia, bittersweet.

i love the use of repetition here – my favorite part is “to hold my skin / as sacred as your own.” it’s such a powerful illustration of the desire to be loved by someone the same way you love them.

  4. Rommy says:

Oh goodness, this is beautiful and so very sad.

  5. Your use of enjambment creates a kind of sadness and suspense that makes this poem dig into the bones. She does long, ache, love…

  6. georginamorley says:

I could totally feel her desire in your words XXX

  7. A plea from the ultimate love and mother to just be loved! So sad, so well done!

Use your words.
