when it all cracks

thing that will
ever be true:
you don’t
have to outrun
the cannibal. You
need only outrun

  1. Mama Zen says:

Yes! The buddy system: push your buddy down and run!

    True, true!
It reminds me of the joke that probably inspired it for you, but dunno if you heard it in this form. Two friends were in the woods and they were talking about what to do if they get attacked by a bear. The first friend bragged how he has good running shoes and is high on stamina, while the other friend said “I have this!” and showed his friend a very small gun. The first friend laughed and said “You will never manage to stop a bear with that!”, and the second friend answered with:”This is not for stopping the bear, it is for stopping you!”

    That is the *best* title!

And I love, “when it all cracks open, see rum bled beneath our feet.”

Also “you don’t have to outrun the cannibal-you.” (Are you sure about that?)

In “run,” I always see “are you in.” So to me, the ending says, you only have to outrun the friend (next to you) saying, “Are you in?” Like, maybe this is a friend daring you to do something dangerous or irresponsible, like ditch class or something.

  4. Shawna says:

Also “open-sea room.” Or “open sea-room.”
